Exten ded idlin g at high engin e speed s can prod uce very
high tem peratu res in the engin e and exhaust system ,
creatin g the risk of fire or oth er damage.
RWARN ING
Do not park , idle, or drive you r veh icle in dry grass or
oth er dry grou nd cover. The emission system heats up
the engin e compartm ent and exhaust system , which can
start a fire.
If you consistently start you r vehicle in subzero tem peratu res,
use an engine block heater (if you r vehicle has this option).
Engine Block Heater (If equipped)
Engine block heaters are strongly recom mend ed if you live in a
region where tem peratu res reach Ҁ20˚F (Ҁ29˚C) or below
consistently during the winter months. An engine block heater
warm s the engine coolant, which improves starting, warm s up
the engine faster, and allow s the heater-d efrost system to
resp ond qu ickly.
RWARN ING
To preven t electrical shock, do not use you r heater with
ungrou nded electrical system s or two-pron ged (cheater)
adapters.
For best resu lts, plug the heater in at least three hou rs before
you start you r vehicle. Using the heater for longer than three
hou rs will not dam age the engine, so you can plug it in at night
to start you r vehicle the follow ing morning.
NOTE: Be sure to discon nect the engin e block heater before
drivin g you r veh icle.
