Wiper Blades
Check the wind shield wiper blad es at least tw ice a year. Also
check them whenever they seem less effective than usual. Such
substances as tree sap and som e hot wax treatm ents used by
com mercial car washes red uce the effectiveness of wiper blad es.
If the blad es do not wipe prop erly, clean both the wind shield
and the wiper blad es. Use und iluted wind shield washer solu tion
or a mild detergent. Rinse thorou ghly with clear water. Do not
use fuel, kerosene, paint thinner, or other solvents to clean you r
wiper blad es. These will dam age you r blad es.
To make reaching the wiper blad es easy, sim ply tu rn the
ignition to the ACC position and tu rn you r wipers on. Wait for
them to reach a vertical position and tu rn the ignition to the
OFF position. Do not move the wipers manu ally. Manu ally
moving the wipers across the wind shield may dam age them .
Wiper blade replacement
If the wipers still do not work prop erly after you clean them ,
you may need to rep lace the wiper blad e assem bly or the blad e.
When rep lacing the wiper blad e assem bly, blad e refill, or wiper
arm alw ays use a Motorcraft part or equ ivalent.
To rep lace the wiper blad es:

Cycle wind shield wiper arm and wiper blad e to where
rem oval of blad e can be perform ed withou t difficulty. Turn
ignition off at desired position.
To rem ove wiper blad e assem bly from wiper mounting arm ,
depress lock tab and push wiper mounting arm aw ay from
wiper blad e assem bly.
To install wiper blad e assem bly, pull wiper mounting arm
dow n on wiper blad e until lock tab is engaged .
