RWARN ING
Do not use the speed control in heavy traffic or on road s
that are winding, slip pery, or unpaved .
In mountainou s areas, at higher elevations, or when pulling a
trailer, the speed control may not be able to maintain the preset
speed with the transm ission in j (Overd rive).
If you r vehicle com es with a 5-speed manu al transm ission, you
may prefer to drive in 4 (Fou rth) gear, in mou ntainou s areas or
at high altitu des, to improve speed control perform ance.
In ord er to dow nshift (with a manu al transm ission) with the
speed control operating, you must press either the brake or
clutch pedal long enou gh to disengage the speed control. Wait a
second before depressing the clutch again and making the shift
so that the speed control can fully retu rn to the idle position.
RWARN ING
Do not shift the tran smission into N (Neutral) with the
speed control on.
To maintain a preset speed und er the above cond itions, with
electronically controlled transm issions — press the Transm ission
Control Switch (TCS). The ind icator light will tu rn on and
illuminate the word s “O/ D OFF.” This will cancel “Overd rive.”
You can press the Transm ission Control Switch (TCS) on or off
at any speed . For the best fuel econom y during norm al driving
cond itions, press the Transm ission Control Switch (TCS) to tu rn
off the light. This allow s overd rive operation.
