Hitches
Do not install a single or multi-clam p typ e bu mper hitch, or a
hitch which attaches to the axle. Und erbod y mounted hitches
are accep table if installed prop erly. Follow tow ing instru ctions
of a rep utable rental agency.
Whenever a trailer hitch and hard ware are rem oved , make sure
all mou nting holes in the und erbod y are prop erly sealed to
prevent noxiou s gases or water from entering.
Trailer tow/step bumper
The rear bu mper has an integral hitch and only requ ires a ball
with a 3/ 4 inch shank diam eter. The bu mper has a Class II
cap ability (3500 lb/ 1590 kg trailer weight and 350 lb/ 159 kg
tongu e weight).
Use a fram e mou nted weight distribu ting hitch for trailers over
3,500
lb. (1590 kg).
NOTE: The rated capacities (as shown in this guide) for
trailer tow ing with the factory bumper are only valid
when the trailer hitch ball is installed directly into the
ball hole in the bumper. Addition of brack etry to
eith er low er the hitch ball position or exten d the hitch
ball rearw ard will sign ifican tly increase the load s on
the bumper and its attach ments. This can resu lt in the
failu re of the bumper or the bumper attach ments. Use
of any typ e of hitch exten sion s should be consid ered
abuse.
If it is necessary to relocate the trailer hitch ball position a
fram e mounted trailer hitch must be installed .
