Servicing Your Explorer
Working with the engine on:
1.
Set the parking brake fully, and make sure the gearshift is
secu rely latched in P (Park) (au tom atic transm ission) or
Neutral (manu al transm ission) and block the wheels.
2.
Block the wheels. This will prevent you r vehicle from
moving unexp ected ly.
RWARN ING
Do not start you r engin e with the air clean er rem oved
and do not rem ove it while the engin e is running.
Opening the Hood
1.
Pu ll the hood release hand le, located below the steering
colu mn.
Hood relea se handle
2.
While ap plying dow nw ard pressu re on the hood , push the
hood latch hand le located behind the grille near the center
front of the vehicle to the left.
