How Does the Board Work?
The Board has four members:

a Ford or Lincoln-Mercu ry dealer
Consu mer cand idates for Board membership are recru ited and
trained by an ind epend ent consu lting firm . Dealers are chosen
becau se of their bu siness lead ership qu alities.
If the involved vehicle is within 36 months and 36,000 miles of
the date of delivery (warranty start date), you have a right to
make an oral presentation before the Board by ind icating you r
choice on the ap plication. Also, oral presentations may be
requ ested by the Board . A decision is mad e by the Board by
sim ple majority vote.
Board members review all the materials related to each
com plaint and , based on the available inform ation, arrive at a
fair and impartial decision. Decisions are based on the written
statem ents and any oral presentations mad e by each of the
involved parties.
Because the Board usually meets only once a month, som e cases
will take longer than 30 days to be review ed. The Board will
make every effort to resolve each case within 40 days after it
receives the custom er ap plication form .
After you r case has been review ed, the Board will mail you its
decision in writing. It will also provid e you with a form to
ind icate you r accep tance or rejection of an aw ard decision. The
decisions of the Board are bind ing on the dealer and Ford , bu t
custom ers may have other options available to them und er state
or federal law .
The decisions of the Board , how ever, may be introd uced into
evid ence by any party in subsequ ent legal proceed ings that may
be initiated .
