Checking the Manual Transmission Fluid
Clean the filler plug on the sid e of the case. Remove the filler
plug. The fluid level shou ld be up to the bottom of the filler
plug hole.
If ad ditional fluid is requ ired :
1.
Ad d enou gh fluid throu gh the filler plug hole to bring the
level up to the bottom of the hole. Use only fluid certified to
meet Ford Motor Com pany lubricant specification as listed
und er Refill Capacities, Motorcraft Parts, and Lubricant
Specifications, later in this chap ter.
2.
Replace the filler plug in its original position, making sure it
is fully seated .
The Clutch
The clutch on you r vehicle is au tom atically self-ad justing and
shou ld not requ ire any rou tine service.
Du ring norm al operation the fluid level in the clutch reservoir
will slow ly rise. If for any reason the fluid level drop s, maintain
the fluid level at the step in the reservoir bod y.
If it becom es necessary to rem ove the reservoir cap , thorou ghly
clean the reservoir cap before rem oving it to prevent dirt or
water from entering the reservoir. Remove the internal
diap hragm and then ad d only a DOT 3 brake fluid such as Ford
High Perform ance DOT 3 Brake Fluid, meeting Ford
specification ESA-M6C25-A.
