This will prevent draining of the battery if these lights have
been left on inad vertently or if a door or the liftgate is not
com pletely closed . Battery voltage to these lam ps will be
restored when the rem ote entry transm itter is used , any door is
opened , the liftgate is opened , or the ignition key is tu rned ON
again.
Anti-Theft Alarm System (If equipped)
When arm ed, this system help s protect you r vehicle against
break-ins or theft.
When an unau thorized entry occu rs, the system triggers and
will:

flash the head lam ps, parking lam ps, and theft ind icator lam p
honk the horn
disable the starting circu it to prevent the vehicle from being
started
Arming the System
The system is read y to arm any tim e the ignition switch is
tu rned OFF and the alarm is not triggered or sou nd ing. Any of
the follow ing events will prearm the anti-theft system :
■
Pressing the rem ote entry transm itter LOCK bu tton to lock
the doors (with the doors open or closed ),
■
Pressing the 7/ 8 and 9/ 0 bu ttons on the keyless entry
keyp ad at the sam e tim e to lock the doors (with the doors
open or closed ), or
■
Op ening a door and pressing the pow er door lock bu tton to
lock the doors.
If a door, liftgate or liftgate wind ow is open, the anti-theft
system is prearm ed and waiting for all doors to close. The
THEFT ind icator in the instru ment panel will light continu ously
while the system is prearm ed.
