If gasoline is swallow ed, do not ind uce vom iting. If a
gasoline-m ethanol blend is swallow ed, ind uce vom iting und er
the direction of a physician or poison control center.
Gasoline and gasoline-m ethanol blend s may contain small
am ounts of carcinogens, such as benzene. Long-term exposu re to
unlead ed gasoline vap ors has cau sed cancer in laboratory
anim als. Further, excessive inhalation of fuel vap ors can cau se
head ache, dizziness, nau sea, loss of coord ination, and other
sym ptom s which could interfere with you r ability to safely
operate you r vehicle. To the extent possible, avoid breathing
vap ors while refu eling. If fuel vap ors are inhaled in excessive
qu antities, move the victim to fresh air and seek medical
attention.
Fuels can also be harm ful if absorbed throu gh the skin. When
refu eling, be carefu l not to splash fuel on you rself or you r
clothing. If fuel is splashed on the skin, prom ptly rem ove
contam inated clothing and wash the skin thorou ghly with soap
and water.
Fuels can cau se severe eye irritation and possibly eye dam age. If
fuel is splashed in the eyes, rem ove contact lenses (if worn),
flush with large am ounts of water for 15 minu tes, and seek
medical attention.
If you are taking the medication “Antabu se” or other form s of
disu lfiram for the treatm ent of alcoholism , vap or or skin contact
with a gasoline-m ethanol blend may cau se the sam e kind of
ad verse reaction as drinking an alcoholic beverage. In sensitive
ind ivid uals, seriou s personal inju ry or sickness could resu lt.
Consu lt a physician prom ptly if you exp erience an ad verse
reaction.
