Jump-Starting Your Vehicle
Your vehicle’s battery may die if you leave the lights on or any
electrical equ ipment on after you tu rn the engine off. If this
hap pens, you may be able to jump-start you r vehicle with a
booster battery.

The gases arou nd the battery can explod e if exposed to
flam es, spark s, or lit cigarettes. An explosion could resu lt
in injury or veh icle damage.

To protect you rself when chargin g a battery, alw ays
shield you r face and eyes. Make sure that you can
breath e fresh air.

Applyin g too much pressu re on the ends when liftin g a
battery could cause acid to spill. Lift the battery with a
carrier or with you r hands on the opposite corn ers.
RWARN ING
Batteries contain sulfu ric acid which burns skin, eyes,
and cloth ing.
If the acid tou ches som eone’s skin, eyes, or clothing,
immediately flush the area with water for at least 15 minu tes. If
som eone swallow s the acid , have him or her drink lots of milk
or water first, then Milk of Magnesia, a beaten egg, or vegetable
oil. Call a doctor immediately.
