RWARN ING
Make sure the spare tire and jack ing equipment are
stow ed and secu red in the prop er storage location .
Preparing to Change the Tire
NOTE: To lift you r veh icle by oth er than the fron t or rear
jack ing poin ts, be sure to use only hoist adapters with
a wide contact surface.
1.
Make sure that you r vehicle will not move or roll. If you
have an au tom atic transm ission, put the gearshift in Park. If
you have a manu al transm ission, put the gearshift in
Reverse. Set the parking brake and block the wheel that is
diagonally opposite the tire that you are changing.
NOTE: Make sure the ign ition is in the OFF position .
When one of the back wheels is off the grou nd , the transm ission
alone will not prevent the vehicle from moving or slip ping off
the jack, even if the vehicle is in P (Park) or 1 (First). To
prevent the vehicle from moving when you change a tire, be
sure the parking brake is set, then block the wheel (both
directions) that is diagonally opposite (other sid e and end of the
vehicle) to the tire that is being changed .

If the veh icle slip s off the jack , som eon e could be
seriou sly injured .
2.
Get ou t the spare tire and jack.
The jack is stow ed behind the driver’s sid e, rear qu arter trim
panel. Remove the qu arter trim panel cover to get to it. The lug
nu t wrench is attached to the insid e of the qu arter trim panel
cover. Stow ed along with the jack is a jacking/ tire changing
