Batteries norm ally prod uce explosive gases which can
cause person al injury. Therefore, do not allow flam es,
spark s or lit tob acco to come near the battery. When
chargin g or work ing near a battery, alw ays cover you r
face and protect you r eyes, and also provid e ven tilation .
RWARN ING
Batteries contain sulfu ric acid which burns skin, eyes,
and cloth ing.
If the acid tou ches som eone’s skin, eyes, or clothing,
immediately flush the area with water for at least 15 minu tes. If
som eone swallow s the acid , have him or her drink lots of milk
or water first, then Milk of Magnesia, a beaten egg, or vegetable
oil. Call a doctor immediately.
RWARN ING
Applyin g too much pressu re on the ends when liftin g a
battery could cause acid to spill. Lift the battery with a
carrier or with you r hands on the opposite corn ers.
Automatic Transmission Fluid
Und er norm al driving cond itions au tom atic transm ission fluid
shou ld be changed every 30,000 miles (48,000 km ) or 21,000
miles (34,000 km ) if und er severe duty cond itions. How ever, if
the transm ission is not working prop erly, for instance, the
transm ission may slip or shift slow ly, or you may notice som e
sign of fluid leakage, the fluid level shou ld be checked .
It is preferable to check the transm ission fluid level at norm al
operating tem peratu re, after ap proxim ately 20 miles (30 km ) of
driving. How ever, if necessary, you can check the fluid level
