Press SET ACCEL switch and release it immediately. This
will set you r speed . If you keep this switch pressed , you r
speed will continu e to increase and will not be set until the
switch is released .
Take you r foot off the accelerator pedal. Your vehicle will
maintain the speed you set.
If you drive up or dow n a steep hill, you r vehicle may
mom entarily slow dow n or speed up, even thou gh the speed
control is on. This is norm al.
NOTE: If you r veh icle is equipped with an autom atic
tran smission , and if you r speed increases above you r
set speed while drivin g in j (Overd rive) on a
downhill grad e, you may want to shift to D (Drive) to
red uce veh icle speed . This can be accom plish ed by
pushing in the Tran smission Con trol switch which is
located on the end of the gearsh ift lever. The speed
control cannot red uce the veh icle speed if it goes
above you r set speed on a downhill grad e. For the
best fuel econ omy durin g norm al drivin g condition s,
leave the shift select in j (Overd rive), or resu me as
soon as practical.
NOTE: If you r veh icle is equipped with a 5 speed manual
tran smission , and if you r speed increases above you r
set speed while drivin g in 5 (Fifth ) gear on a downhill
grad e, you may want to shift to 4 (Fourth ) gear to
red uce veh icle speed . Depressin g the clutch pedal
cancels speed control, therefore speed control must be
reset by pressin g the SET ACCEL or RESUM E
switch es. Speed control cannot red uce the veh icle
speed if it goes above you r set speed on a downhill
grad e.
